Brazil held to a draw against Venezuela in World Cup qualifiers, Raphinha scores but Vinicius misses penalty

Brazil was held to a 1-1 draw by Venezuela in their FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying match on Thursday night at the Monumental Stadium in Maturin.

The game saw Brazil take the lead with a goal from Raphinha in the 43rd minute, but Venezuela equalized early in the second half through Telasco Segovia's strike in the 46th minute.

Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 89th minute following Alexander Gonzalez's dismissal for a foul on Gabriel Martinelli and Vinicius Junior, Venezuela managed to hold on for the draw.

Brazil's next match is scheduled against Uruguay on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in Salvador, Brazil.
