Justin Kluivert became the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick of penalties, leading AFC Bournemouth to a 4-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Saturday.
Kluivert converted spot-kicks in the third, 18th, and 74th minutes. His first penalty came after Evanilson was fouled by Toti Gomes, and the second followed a foul by Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa. The third penalty, also won by Evanilson, sealed the hat-trick and put Bournemouth ahead 4-2.
Milos Kerkez also contributed to the scoreline with a goal for Bournemouth. Despite Jorgen Strand Larsen scoring twice for Wolves, they couldn't overcome Bournemouth's strong performance.
Kluivert expressed his delight at the achievement: "To go in the history books, that's amazing, super happy with it. I train them [the penalties]. We have a great 'keeper with Kepa [Arrizabalaga]. We try some stuff, the first one I stop, and look at the keeper, what is he doing? I switch it up for the second one, then the third, he doesn't know what I'm going to do. I waited and he chose for me. Easy as that."
The victory propelled Bournemouth to 11th place in the Premier League standings, while Wolves slipped into the relegation zone due to goal difference.
