
Maduka Okoye could be starting in goal for Nigeria against Rwanda in the final match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, following the absence of first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
Nwabali, who played in the 1-1 draw against Benin on November 14, has been excused from the squad after the tragic passing of his father, Godspower Onyekam Abali.
The former Chief Surveyor, aged 67, passed away recently, leading Nwabali to mourn this lossbali will not be available for the match, Okoye, who has earned multiple international caps for Nigeria, is expected to compete with Ethiopia-based Amas Obasogie for the number one goalkeeper position.
