Manchester United has confirmed that Ruud van Nistelrooy, who rejoined the club as assistant coach in the summer of 2024, will be departing. Van Nistelrooy took charge as interim manager following the exit of Erik ten Hag, managing several key matches during his brief leadership. However, he will not remain on staff under incoming manager Rúben Amorim, who prefers to work with his own team.
In his short tenure, Ruud van Nistelrooy served as Manchester United’s interim manager following Erik ten Hag's recent departure. His brief tenure saw a promising start with a decisive 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, where Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro each scored twice and Alejandro Garnacho added to the tally.
This game, which marked his managerial debut, showcased a strong offensive approach as United rebounded from their prior league defeat against West Ham. His interim period concluded on a high note with another 3-0 win against Leicester in the Premier League.
It was learnt that the former Manchester United legend stint followed a decorated career as a United player and a successful coaching period with PSV Eindhoven, where he previously won the KNVB Cup and managed Europa League fixtures.
