
Netherlands secured their place in the Nations League quarter-finals with a dominant 4-0 victory over Hungary at the Johan Cruyff Arena on November 16, 2024.
Wout Weghorst opened the scoring with a penalty after Tamas Nikitscher's handball, and Cody Gakpo doubled the lead from the spot just before halftime following a foul on Donyell Malen.
In the second half, Denzel Dumfries extended the lead with a clinical finish into the far corner. Teun Koopmeiners added a fourth with a powerful header from Dumfries' cross, and almost scored again shortly after, hitting the post.
The match had a brief interruption due to a medical emergency on the Hungary bench but resumed with the Netherlands firmly in control. This victory saw them finish second in Group A3.
