Nollywood actress Ufuoma McDermott has recently opened up about her 12-year struggle with kidney disease, shedding light on the significant impact it has had on her personal and professional life.
Diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney disease in 2023, McDermott's condition has since advanced to Stage 4. Throughout this period, she has endured chronic pain and the emotional burden of losing her younger brother to the same illness.
In a heartfelt interview, McDermott shared her fears and the difficulties she has encountered. She explained, "People don’t understand my situation when I say I can’t afford to gain weight. I don’t want to die; I have young children." Despite medical advice to rest, she continued working, which worsened her condition. She revealed, "I had pushed my body to the brink of Stage 4. Last year was an extremely challenging time in my life, and I felt like I was going to die."
