The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) expressed deep condolences following the tragic news of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali's father's passing. 
The NFF sent their thoughts and prayers through a tweet that read: "Our thoughts and prayers are with @NGSuperEagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, who lost his Father earlier today. May his soul rest in peace".
Nwabali, who is part of Nigeria's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, played in the crucial match against Benin Republic on November 14, 2024, despite receiving the heartbreaking news of his father's death during the game. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Mohamed Tijani putting Benin ahead in the first half. The result confirmed Nigeria's qualification for the 2025 AFCON after Rwanda's loss to Libya.
Nwabali has earned several international caps for Nigeria, including his notable performances in the 2025 qualifiers, where he previously kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory over Benin. Nigeria's next match is against Rwanda.
