Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa shared key relationship red flags, warning women about men who criticize their ex-partners excessively.
Makinwa, who is 40 years old, emphasized specific behaviors that would prompt her to cut ties with a man immediately, particularly those involving his views and treatment of past relationships.
Explaining her stance, Makinwa said, "If I meet a guy that runs his ex down, he’s never going to hear from me again. If I meet a guy who talks about his ex consistently, he’s still not over her, and he’s not going to hear from me. If I meet a guy who makes comparisons to where he’s coming from, he’s never going to hear from me."
She pointed out a recurring pattern where men criticize their exes, portraying them as “crazy.” Makinwa believes this tactic serves to deflect accountability for their own actions in the failed relationship. She warned women against dating men who trash-talk their former partners, stressing that “what he did to his ex, he can do times two to you.”
Makinwa added, “While you’re with him, it’s easy for a guy to paint a picture saying ‘she was crazy.’ Every girl is crazy in every guy’s book; if my exes talk about me to you, you’d think I’m the mad one because everyone would tell their own version of the story. I always tell women that if a man keeps calling his ex crazy, he’s likely the one who made her that way.”
