Tunde Kelani Names Grandson After Nigerian Football Icon Segun Odegbami.
Veteran Nigerian filmmaker Tunde Kelani took to social media to celebrate the birth of his grandson. A notable highlight of the naming ceremony was the attendance of legendary Nigerian footballer Segun Odegbami.
Sharing a photo from the event, Kelani revealed that his grandson was named in honor of Odegbami. He was given the name "7," a nod to the footballer’s famed nickname during his playing days.
Kelani captioned the photo: "Segun Odegbami graced my grandson’s naming ceremony yesterday. Among the many names given to the child is ‘7’—a fitting coincidence, as Segun Odegbami himself is fondly known as ‘Mathematical 7.’ May our grandson grow to achieve greatness and fame, just like his esteemed namesake."
Segun Odegbami, known as "Mathematical 7," had an illustrious career with the Nigeria national team, scoring 23 goals in 46 appearances. He was instrumental in guiding Nigeria to its first Africa Cup of Nations title in 1980.
Tunde Kelani, a renowned filmmaker, has produced several acclaimed movies that celebrate Nigeria's rich cultural heritage. Some of his notable works include "Thunderbolt," "The Narrow Path," and "Maami."
