Marta Vieira da Silva, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in the history of the women’s game, has been honored with the first-ever Marta Award. 
The accolade, named in her honor, was introduced to celebrate the most outstanding goal scored in women’s football, a fitting tribute to her legendary contributions to the sport.
With an illustrious international career spanning over two decades, Marta has earned 204 caps for Brazil and scored 119 goals, making her the all-time leading scorer for her national team. Her achievements include six FIFA World Player of the Year awards and a historic record as the all-time top scorer in FIFA Women’s World Cup history with 17 goals.
