Pep Guardiola Counters Anfield Chants with Premier League Titles
Pep Guardiola responded to chants from Liverpool fans at Anfield with a defiant gesture, holding up six fingers to signify his six Premier League titles as Manchester City coach. The chants, which included "You're getting sacked in the morning," came after Liverpool's 2-0 victory over City on Sunday.
"I didn't expect it from the people of Liverpool, but it's fine," Guardiola told Sky Sports. "Maybe they are right with the results we've been having. I didn't expect that at Anfield. Maybe they should've sung it in the past."
Despite the defeat, Guardiola remains confident in his ability to turn things around. "All the stadiums want to sack me, it started at Brighton," he said. "Maybe they are right with the results we've been having. I didn't expect that at Anfield. They didn't do it at 1-0, but at 2-0. Maybe they should've sung it in the past. I didn't expect it from the people of Liverpool, but it's fine, it's part of the game, and I understand completely. We've had incredible battles together. I have a respect for them."
This season, Guardiola's side has faced a challenging run, losing six games in all competitions. The recent defeat at Anfield was their fourth consecutive loss in the Premier League, with previous losses to Brighton, Bournemouth, and Tottenham.
Guardiola's six Premier League titles with Manchester City are a testament to his success and resilience as a coach. Despite the current struggles, he remains determined to lead his team back to the top of the table.
