TSG Hoffenheim is in advanced negotiations to acquire Nigerian forward Gift Orban from Olympique Lyonnais.
Orban, 22, joined Lyon from KAA Gent in January 2024 for a transfer fee that could rise from €12 million to €20 million, with Gent entitled to 20% of any future profit from his sale.
This season, Orban has struggled for playing time, making just five appearances and scoring two goals. His limited involvement has been attributed to increased competition following the arrival of Georges Mikautadze and disciplinary issues, including a recent omission from the squad due to a controversial social media post.
Lyon is reportedly looking to offload Orban in the upcoming transfer window, with Hoffenheim emerging as a potential destination. The nature of the proposed move, whether a loan or permanent transfer, has yet to be disclosed.
Orban's potential departure aligns with Lyon's need to reduce their wage bill following financial sanctions imposed by the DNCG, French football's financial watchdog.
Hoffenheim, currently seeking to bolster their attacking options, view Orban as a promising addition despite his recent challenges at Lyon.
As negotiations progress, further details regarding the transfer fee and contract terms are expected to emerge.
