Jesús Navas, the captain of Sevilla FC, delivered an emotional farewell to fans during his final home appearance at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on December 14, 2024.
The 39-year-old, who has been battling chronic hip pain, has announced his retirement from professional football.
The match against Celta de Vigo was marked by heartfelt tributes. Navas entered the pitch accompanied by his children, receiving a guard of honor from both teammates and opponents. The Sevilla supporters unveiled a large 'tifo' emblazoned with 'Orgullo de Nervión' ('Pride of Nervión'), celebrating Navas's dedication to the club.
During the game, Navas played as the starting right-back, a position he adeptly transitioned to from his original midfield role over his career. In the 71st minute, he was substituted, departing the field amid applause and visible emotion.
