Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that defender Joe Gomez will be sidelined following a hamstring injury sustained during the team's 5-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday.
Gomez, 27, was substituted in the 37th minute at the London Stadium after signaling discomfort during a sprint. He was replaced by Jarell Quansah. This injury compounds Liverpool's defensive challenges, as first-choice center-back Ibrahima Konaté is also out due to injury.
Slot commented on the situation, stating, "If a player says he wants to stop, he has to be changed. In a sprint, then we all know it's a hamstring and we all know it's going to take a while before he is back. I don't know how long, but he will be out for quite a bit."
Despite the injury setback, Liverpool's win has extended their lead in the Premier League to eight points. The team is preparing to host Manchester United at Anfield in their next fixture.
