Manchester United Mourns the Passing of Beloved Colleague Kath Phipps
Manchester United is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Kath Phipps at the age of 85. A lifelong United fan from Irlam, Kath joined the club in 1968 as a switchboard operator and dedicated over 55 years of service in various roles. Her unwavering positivity and dedication made her an omnipresent figure at Old Trafford and Carrington.
Kath's contributions went beyond any particular job title; she was a key member of the club's office staff, a matchday fixture at Old Trafford's directors' entrance, and a beloved training ground receptionist. Her warm hugs and friendly chats embodied the familial atmosphere that underpins the club's culture.
In recognition of her service, Kath was honored with the League Managers' Association's Service to Football award in 2022, receiving public tributes from notable figures such as David Beckham and Gary Neville.
