Manchester United players have decided not to wear Adidas jackets in support of the LGBTQ+ community ahead of their match against Everton on Sunday.
This decision comes after defender Noussair Mazraoui declined to participate in the initiative due to his religious beliefs. Rather than isolating Mazraoui, the team collectively chose not to wear the jackets.
Last weekend, Manchester United secured a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both scored twice, with assists from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.
This week, however, Manchester United faced Arsenal and suffered a 2-0 defeat. Goals were scored by Jurrien Timber at the 53rd minute and William Saliba at the 72nd minute.
Adidas, the sportswear company behind the jackets, has expressed disappointment over the decision. The club, which has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, has its own LGBTQ+ supporters' group, Rainbow Devils. Despite the setback, Manchester United remains dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community through various initiatives.
