Napoli secured a 2-1 victory over Genoa on Saturday, reclaiming the top position in the Serie A standings.
The win elevates Napoli to 38 points, placing them one point ahead of Atalanta. Genoa currently holds 14th place with 16 points.
The match commenced with Napoli's Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa scoring in the 15th minute; his header deflected off a Genoa defender into the net. Eight minutes later, Amir Rrahmani extended the lead by heading in a set-piece delivery.
Genoa responded in the second half with a goal from Andrea Pinamonti in the 51st minute. Despite Genoa's efforts to equalize, Napoli's goalkeeper, Alex Meret, made crucial saves to preserve the victory.
This triumph marks Napoli's second consecutive league win, following their 3-1 comeback against Udinese on December 14. Prior to these victories, Napoli had suffered back-to-back defeats to Lazio, including a 0-1 loss on December 8 that cost them the Serie A lead at the time.
Napoli's next fixture is scheduled against Venezia on December 29, where they will aim to maintain their position at the summit of Serie A.
