Real Madrid forward Endrick is mourning the tragic death of his 38-year-old brother-in-law, Mauricio Nunes Goncalves, who was fatally shot on Christmas Day in Samambaia, near BrasÃlia, Brazil.
Goncalves, the brother of Endrick's sister Lavinia Sudre's partner, was targeted in what authorities believe to be a premeditated attack. He was shot multiple times in the head as he tried to flee the scene of a street bar, with witnesses reporting no prior altercation between him and the assailant, further suggesting it was a targeted execution.
Lavinia Sudre shared her grief on social media, changing her Instagram profile picture to a black ribbon and posting a photo of Goncalves with the message, "You left beautiful memories in our hearts that we will never forget." The funeral for Goncalves was set for the afternoon of December 26.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Endrick, who joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras earlier this year, has not yet publicly commented on the devastating event. The 18-year-old Brazilian international, who has had limited playing time with the club, has also been linked to a potential loan move to Real Betis.
