
Vinícius Júnior has been named the FIFA Men's Player of the Year for 2024, following an exceptional season with Real Madrid.
The Brazilian forward played a pivotal role in securing multiple titles for his club, showcasing remarkable skill and consistency throughout the year.
Vinícius made 26 appearances in La Liga, scoring 15 goals and providing 5 assists. His dynamic presence was a key factor in Real Madrid’s pursuit of the league title. Additionally, he delivered a memorable performance in the Supercopa de España final, scoring a hat-trick in a 4–1 victory over Barcelona, highlighting his ability to perform in crucial moments.
On the European stage, Vinícius was instrumental in Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League campaign, scoring vital goals in knockout rounds. His performance in the final against Borussia Dortmund was particularly notable, as he netted a goal in the 2–0 victory, helping secure the club’s 15th European Cup.
At just 23 years old, he also became the youngest player to score in two Champions League finals, surpassing Lionel Messi’s record.
Vinícius Júnior's individual achievements also earned him recognition, as he was named the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season, after registering six goals and five assists in the competition. His outstanding contributions to Real Madrid’s success have firmly established him as one of the brightest talents in world football.
Other nominees for the FIFA Men's Player of the Year award included Rodri from Manchester City, who played a crucial role in his team's Premier League triumph; Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid, known for his maturity and performances in midfield; Erling Haaland, whose goal-scoring form helped Manchester City dominate offensively; and Kylian Mbappé, whose speed and finishing kept him among the world’s top attackers.
Additionally, Lionel Messi’s continued excellence with Inter Miami was noted, alongside standout performances from Toni Kroos, Florian Wirtz, Federico Valverde, and others.
