A seven-year-old girl named Mercy Akande has been abducted by a male customer of her mother, who operates a Point of Sale (PoS) terminal in Sango Ota, Ogun State.
On Monday, December 23, an unidentified man, reportedly a regular patron, visited the shop, purchased food for Mercy, and later sent her to buy a sachet of water. Upon her return, the man intercepted her, and both subsequently disappeared.
The mother, momentarily distracted by other customers, noticed their absence and initiated a search, but to no avail. Attempts to contact the man's phone were unsuccessful, as it eventually became unreachable.
A user on X, claiming to be Mercy's cousin, appealed for public assistance, revealing that the mother was required to pay ₦10,000 to file a police report and an additional ₦30,000 to trace the suspect's phone number. The user also mentioned that efforts to obtain a court affidavit for the phone tracking were hindered by the holiday period.
As of now, Mercy's whereabouts remain unknown, and the family continues to seek assistance in locating her.
