Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has confirmed that he gave his FA Cup winner's medal to teammate Tyrell Malacia.
The Red Devils secured a 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo sealing the win.
Malacia, who has been sidelined for the entire 2023/24 season due to a knee injury, did not play a single game this season.
Despite his absence, Casemiro wanted to ensure that Malacia felt included in the team's success. "He hadn't played a single game that season, and he didn't want to climb the steps. There was no medal for him, so I gave him mine. We need him, he’s part of the team. We love him and he needs love."
Malacia recently returned to action after an 18-month absence, making an appearance for the under-21s against Huddersfield Town in the EFL Trophy on November 12th, and starting the first 45 minutes against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League victory.
