FC Barcelona commenced their 2025 campaign with a decisive 4-0 victory over UD Barbastro in the Copa del Rey Round of 32.
The opening goal materialized in the 21st minute when Frenkie de Jong delivered a precise cross into the penalty area. Ronald Araújo, making his return from injury, headed the ball back across the goal, enabling Eric GarcÃa to deftly flick it into the net.
Ten minutes later, Barcelona extended their lead. Pablo Torre executed a well-placed free-kick into the box, where Robert Lewandowski was positioned at the far post to head the ball past the goalkeeper, marking his first goal of the match.
Shortly after the commencement of the second half, Torre and Lewandowski combined effectively once more. Torre's adept touch set up Lewandowski, who advanced towards goal and dispatched a low shot beyond the reach of the goalkeeper, securing his brace.
The final goal ensued following a defensive lapse by Barbastro's goalkeeper, Arnau Fabregas, who inadvertently passed the ball directly to Pablo Torre. Seizing the opportunity, Torre struck the ball high into the net from close range, concluding the scoring and ensuring Barcelona's progression to the Round of 16.
Despite challenges off the pitch, including the inability to register new signings Dani Olmo and Pau VÃctor due to financial fair play constraints, the team maintained focus and delivered a commanding performance.
