Bayer Leverkusen has completed the loan signing of Emiliano Buendía from Aston Villa, with the German club covering the midfielder's salary during his stay. The agreement includes a non-mandatory purchase option valued at approximately €20 million.
Buendía, who joined Aston Villa from Norwich City in 2021 for a fee rising to £38 million, has struggled for regular game time following his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. This season, he has made 12 Premier League appearances, all as a substitute, and started three times across all competitions.
The 28-year-old Argentine is expected to undergo medical examinations before finalizing the transfer. The loan deal, set to run until the end of the season, presents an opportunity for Buendía to gain more playing time while bolstering Bayer Leverkusen’s midfield options as they continue their campaign.
