Carlo Ancelotti has provided an update on David Alaba's recovery progress and outlined his plans for Real Madrid’s upcoming fixtures.
Alaba, who sustained a significant knee injury earlier in the season, is nearing a return to action.
The Austrian defender has been sidelined since October due to a muscle tear in his left thigh. His absence has been felt in Real Madrid's defensive lineup.
Speaking on Alaba’s recovery, Ancelotti said: “David Alaba is close to playing games; he will be ready by January 20.”
The manager expressed optimism about the defender’s reintegration into the team, adding that his return will bolster defensive options significantly.
Ancelotti also addressed his strategy moving forward, particularly in light of Real Madrid’s congested schedule and recent injuries within the squad: “We will rotate more now, especially in defense.”
This approach is expected to manage player workloads effectively and maintain squad fitness as the season progresses.
Real Madrid is set to face Valencia CF this weekend at the Mestalla Stadium. With rotations anticipated, Ancelotti will likely rely on younger players and fringe members of the squad to step up. The match is a crucial opportunity for Los Blancos to maintain their momentum in the La Liga title race.
Alaba’s return in January will provide versatility to the defensive lineup, as he is adept at both center-back and left-back roles. His recovery is expected to strengthen Real Madrid’s backline during a critical phase of the season.
