Chelsea Recall Trevoh Chalobah Amid Injury Crisis Ahead of Wolverhampton Clash

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has addressed the club's decision to recall defender Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace. This move comes in response to injuries sustained by key defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoît Badiashile. 

Maresca explained, "We have a few injuries, so we were looking for a solution. We thought the best solution was to call back Trev." He added, "He can help us. He was very happy. I can see his face, I chatted with him. We are happy." 

Chalobah, 25, made 12 league appearances and scored three goals during his tenure at Crystal Palace. His return to Stamford Bridge is timely, as Chelsea is set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in a Premier League match on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 20:00 GMT at Stamford Bridge. 

In addition to the defensive concerns, Chelsea's top scorer, Cole Palmer, is a doubt for the upcoming match due to an injury sustained in their recent 2-2 draw with AFC Bournemouth. Maresca emphasized Palmer's importance but assured that the team would find a solution if necessary. 

Chelsea currently sits fifth in the Premier League standings and aims to secure a victory against 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers to strengthen their position.
