Since his transfer from Everton to Atalanta in June 2024 for approximately £10 million, Godfrey has experienced limited playing time, featuring in only one Serie A match and two Champions League fixtures.
Ipswich Town's head coach, Kieran McKenna, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "Ben is a player of considerable talent and versatility. His Premier League experience will be invaluable as we strive to improve our league standing."
Godfrey, who has previously made 93 appearances for Everton and earned caps for the England national team, commented on his move: "I'm eager to get started and contribute to the team's efforts. The opportunity to work under Coach McKenna and return to the Premier League is something I'm looking forward to."
Ipswich Town is currently positioned 18th in the Premier League and is aiming to strengthen its squad to avoid relegation.
