Julian Nagelsmann has extended his tenure as head coach of the German national football team until the conclusion of the UEFA European Championship in 2028. The German Football Association (DFB) announced the contract extension on January 24, 2025.

Nagelsmann, who assumed the role in September 2023 at the age of 36, led Germany to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 on home soil. His initial contract was set to run until the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Reflecting on his journey, Nagelsmann stated, "When I came to the DFB in September 2023, I could not have imagined being a national coach beyond the home Euro. This great feedback that we all receive every day shows us that our journey together is on the right path. We want to win titles together."

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf emphasized the significance of this decision, praising Nagelsmann's sporting expertise and his rapport with both the team and fans. National team director Rudi Völler also lauded Nagelsmann for fostering a close relationship with fans and players, highlighting the unity necessary for success.
