Liverpool Thrash Ipswich 4-1 to Extend Premier League Lead

Liverpool continued their impressive Premier League campaign with a commanding 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Anfield on Saturday, January 25, 2025. 

The win solidifies their position at the top of the table, maintaining a six-point lead over their closest rivals.

The Reds took control early in the match, with Mohamed Salah opening the scoring in the 35th minute. This goal marked a significant milestone for Salah, as he surpassed Thierry Henry to move up to seventh in the Premier League's all-time goalscoring charts. 

Cody Gakpo extended Liverpool's lead just before halftime, capitalizing on a defensive error to make it 2-0. The Dutch forward continued his fine form, adding a third goal in the 53rd minute, effectively putting the game beyond Ipswich's reach.

Luis Díaz added a fourth for Liverpool in the 70th minute, showcasing the team's attacking prowess. Ipswich managed to pull one back in the 90th minute through Jacob Greaves, but it proved to be merely a consolation. 

Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised his team's performance, stating, "The players executed our game plan perfectly today. It's always satisfying to see such a comprehensive display."
