Mikel Arteta expressed his deep frustration after a controversial penalty decision led to Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on January 4, 2025.

Arteta was particularly upset with the penalty awarded to Brighton in the 61st minute, which saw João Pedro convert from the spot to equalize for the home side. The penalty came after a collision between Arsenal's William Saliba and Pedro, with Saliba seemingly making contact with the ball before the incident occurred.
"We are really disappointed with the decision that leads to the goal because I have never seen something like this in my life. He touches the ball as well," Arteta stated, clearly unhappy with the outcome.
Arsenal had initially taken the lead in the 16th minute through a goal by 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri, marking a significant milestone in his career. However, Brighton's persistence paid off, and the penalty left both teams sharing the spoils.
This result leaves Arsenal in second place, five points behind leaders Liverpool, with two games in hand. The Gunners will be hoping to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
