Mikel Arteta has revealed that Ethan Nwaneri was forced off during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion due to a muscular issue.
Speaking after the match, Arteta said, “Unfortunately, I think we lost him as well, so it’s another one. It’s a muscular thing, and we had to take him off.”
The game at the Amex Stadium saw Nwaneri open the scoring in the 16th minute, marking the 17-year-old's second Premier League goal of the season. However, his substitution at halftime added to Arsenal's injury concerns as the Gunners continue to navigate a challenging period.
Brighton equalized in the second half when João Pedro converted a penalty in the 60th minute, following a VAR-reviewed collision between William Saliba and the Brazilian forward. The decision left Arteta visibly frustrated, as his side struggled to regain control of the match.
The result leaves Arsenal five points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand. Despite extending their unbeaten run in the league to 10 matches, the draw dealt a blow to the Gunners' title ambitions.
