Al-Hilal's manager, Jorge Jesus, has confirmed that Neymar Jr. will not be registered for the remainder of the Saudi Pro League season due to ongoing injury concerns. However, Neymar remains eligible to participate in the AFC Champions League.
Neymar joined Al-Hilal in August 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported €90 million transfer fee. His tenure has been marred by injuries, including a torn anterior cruciate ligament sustained during an international match against Uruguay in October 2023. After a brief return to play in October 2024, he suffered a hamstring injury, limiting his appearances to seven matches, during which he contributed one goal and three assists.

In a recent statement, Jorge Jesus remarked, "Neymar will not be registered in the team for the championship. He can participate in the Asian Champions League... He is a player who leaves no doubt, a world-class player. But the truth is that physically, Neymar can no longer play at the level we are used to."

Speculation has arisen regarding Neymar's future, with reports suggesting potential interest from Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire. The MLS club is reportedly in discussions to sign Neymar for the upcoming season, offering a salary comparable to that of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. Neymar's current contract with Al-Hilal is set to expire in June 2025, with an option for extension until 2026.
