Gift Orban has completed a transfer from Olympique Lyonnais to Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim for a reported €9 million, with potential add-ons bringing the total to €12 million.
The 22-year-old Nigerian forward is expected to undergo a medical examination before finalizing the move.
Orban joined Lyon from Belgian side KAA Gent in January 2024 for a reported €14 million, including bonuses. However, he struggled to replicate his form in Ligue 1, scoring just five goals in 21 appearances. Consequently, Lyon deemed him surplus to requirements.
Hoffenheim had been in negotiations with Lyon for several weeks, ultimately agreeing on a transfer fee of around €10 million. Despite interest from Ligue 1 rivals RC Lens, whose bid was rejected, Hoffenheim’s offer proved the most compelling.
The 22-year-old is now set to make his Bundesliga debut in the new year, offering him a fresh start and an opportunity to reignite his promising career.
