Chelsea Football Club has shared images of captain Reece James participating in training sessions at Cobham, signaling a positive step in his recovery from a recent hamstring injury.
Manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that James is back in training; however, he emphasized that the defender's return to match action will be carefully managed to ensure full fitness.
James, who has been sidelined due to recurring hamstring issues, underwent surgery in December 2023 to address the problem. Despite this setback, he made a brief return to action in May 2024, providing an assist in a 3–2 victory over Nottingham Forest.
However, he was later suspended for three matches following a red card in the final game of the 2023–24 season. The 24-year-old resumed training in October 2024 but suffered another hamstring injury in November, leading to his current absence.
Chelsea's upcoming fixture is scheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2025, against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The match is set to commence at 3:00 PM GMT.
