Renato Veiga has officially joined Juventus on a loan deal from Chelsea, marking a significant move for the Portuguese defender. The agreement includes a €3.8 million loan fee, €1.5 million in potential add-ons, and €200,000 in additional costs. Notably, the deal does not feature an option for a permanent transfer.
Veiga, 21, moved to Chelsea from FC Basel in July 2024 for €14 million and made seven Premier League appearances while also featuring in the UEFA Conference League. Despite his versatility as a center-back, left-back, and defensive midfielder, he sought more regular playing time in his preferred central defensive role.
Juventus pursued Veiga to strengthen their defensive line following the departure of veteran defender Danilo. The club sees his adaptability and defensive skills as vital assets as they compete in both domestic and European tournaments.
This move is also pivotal for Veiga's aspirations of securing a place in Portugal’s national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup, providing him with the regular first-team action he has been seeking.
