Arsenal secured a vital 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on February 15, 2025, narrowing the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool to four points.

The Gunners faced a challenging start, with manager Mikel Arteta deploying an unconventional front line due to injuries to key forwards Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. Leandro Trossard was positioned as the central striker, flanked by Raheem Sterling and 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.

Throughout the first half, Arsenal dominated possession but struggled to penetrate Leicester's defense. The Foxes, despite their position in the relegation zone, showcased resilience and created notable chances, testing goalkeeper David Raya on multiple occasions. Nwaneri emerged as a bright spot for Arsenal, his energetic runs and creativity posing consistent threats, though the team couldn't capitalize on his efforts.

The turning point arrived in the 81st minute when Arteta introduced midfielder Mikel Merino as an emergency striker, replacing the underperforming Sterling. Merino made an immediate impact, heading home a precise cross from Nwaneri to break the deadlock. Buoyed by the lead, Arsenal continued to press, and just six minutes later, Merino secured his brace by converting a low cross from Trossard, effectively sealing the match.

This victory extends Arsenal's unbeaten run to 15 league games, including 10 wins, and reinforces their pursuit of the title. Leicester City, meanwhile, remains mired in the relegation zone, having failed to secure a clean sheet in their last 17 league matches. The Gunners' adaptability and depth were on full display, with Merino's unexpected heroics providing a timely boost amid their injury challenges.
