Ben Chilwell Nears Crystal Palace Loan Move as Chelsea Left-Back Seeks Regular Playing Time Before Transfer Deadline

Chelsea's Ben Chilwell is nearing a loan move to Crystal Palace, with negotiations between the clubs progressing ahead of Monday's transfer deadline. The 28-year-old left-back has seen limited playing time under manager Enzo Maresca, featuring only in a League Cup match this season. Discussions are ongoing, with Chelsea expected to cover a portion of Chilwell's £190,000-a-week wages.

Chilwell, who transferred from Leicester City to Chelsea in 2020 for approximately £45 million, has made 107 appearances for the club but has struggled with injuries. His potential move to Crystal Palace could provide the regular playing time he seeks.

Maresca has acknowledged Chilwell's professionalism during this challenging period, stating, "Ben has been top. Very professional, works hard. I feel shame because of that situation but in terms of behaviour, he has been very good."

The loan deal is expected to be finalized before the transfer window closes on Monday.
