José Peseiro, the seasoned Portuguese football manager, has been appointed as the new head coach of Egypt's Zamalek Sporting Club. The 64-year-old tactician arrived in Cairo on Thursday to finalize a one-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
Peseiro's managerial career boasts a wealth of experience, having led prominent clubs and national teams across various continents. Notably, he guided the Nigerian national team to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they secured a runner-up finish.

His return to Egyptian football is significant, as he previously managed Al Ahly during the 2015/16 season. This appointment follows the departure of Swiss coach Christian Gross, who was dismissed after Thursday's training session.

Zamalek, one of Africa's most successful football clubs, has faced challenges in recent seasons, including managerial instability and inconsistent performances. Peseiro's extensive experience and tactical acumen are expected to play a pivotal role in restoring the club's dominance in both Egyptian and African football.

The club has expressed confidence in Peseiro's ability to lead Zamalek to new heights, with expectations of strengthening the squad, instilling a winning mentality, and competing for both domestic league titles and continental championships.
