Feyenoord Fires Coach Priske Days Before Champions League Showdown with AC Milan

Feyenoord has announced the immediate departure of head coach Brian Priske, just days before their UEFA Champions League fixture against AC Milan. 
The club cited inconsistent performances and a lack of team cohesion as primary reasons for this decision. Assistant coaches Lukas Babalola Andersson and Björn Hamberg have also been relieved of their duties. An interim coaching staff is expected to be appointed shortly. 

Priske, who succeeded Arne Slot in June 2024, had signed a three-year contract with the Rotterdam-based club. Despite notable successes in the Champions League, including a 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich, Feyenoord's domestic form has been underwhelming. The team currently sits fifth in the Eredivisie, trailing leaders Ajax by 12 points, and was recently eliminated from the KNVB Cup by PSV Eindhoven. 

Reflecting on the decision, Feyenoord's general and technical director, Dennis te Kloese, stated, "It is very disappointing for all parties that we had to come to this decision. Although Feyenoord has certainly achieved impressive results with Brian in the UEFA Champions League, the past few months have been far too inconsistent and we unfortunately ... ." 

The club is anticipated to announce an interim coaching team ahead of their upcoming Champions League match against AC Milan.
