Hakimi's Brace Propels PSG to 3-2 Victory Over Lyon, Extending Unbeaten Ligue 1 Run

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Olympique Lyonnais on February 23, 2025. Achraf Hakimi was instrumental, netting two goals, while Ousmane Dembélé added another to secure the win. 

The first half remained goalless, but PSG broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when Hakimi capitalized on a defensive lapse. Dembélé doubled the advantage just before the hour mark with a well-placed shot. Lyon's Rayan Cherki reduced the deficit in the 83rd minute, but Hakimi's second goal shortly after restored PSG's two-goal cushion. A stoppage-time goal from Corentin Tolisso added tension, but PSG held firm to claim all three points. 

Manager Luis Enrique praised his team's attacking prowess but expressed concerns over their game management, especially after conceding late goals. He emphasized the need for smarter play when in a commanding position. 

This victory marks PSG's eighth consecutive win across all competitions and extends their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 this season. They now sit 13 points clear of second-placed Olympique de Marseille, who suffered a 3-0 defeat to Auxerre. 

Looking ahead, PSG will face fourth-tier Stade Briochin in the French Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The team aims to continue their impressive form as they pursue domestic and European success.
