Algerian international midfielder Ismaël Bennacer has officially joined Olympique de Marseille from AC Milan on a loan deal with an option to buy. The 27-year-old successfully completed his medical examination before finalizing the move.

Born in Arles, France, Bennacer began his professional career with AC Arles-Avignon in January 2015. He was soon scouted by Arsenal, joining the London club in the summer of 2015. After a loan spell with Tours FC in 2017, he transferred to Italy's Empoli FC, where he played a pivotal role in their Serie B title win. His performances caught the attention of AC Milan, who signed him in 2019. During his tenure with the Rossoneri, Bennacer made 178 appearances, securing a Serie A title and a Supercoppa, and reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in the 2022/23 season.

On the international stage, Bennacer has earned 50 caps for Algeria. He was instrumental in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, where he was named the tournament's best player at just 21 years old.

AC Milan released an official statement confirming the transfer and extending their best wishes to Bennacer for the remainder of the season.

This move marks a return to Bennacer's roots in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, as he joins a club he has supported since childhood.
