Lionel Messi's frustration was evident following Inter Miami's 2-2 draw against New York City FC in their MLS season opener on Saturday night. Despite assisting Telasco Segovia's stoppage-time equalizer, Messi engaged in heated confrontations with both the match referee and an opposing coach.
After the final whistle, Messi approached referee Rosendo Mendoza to express his dissatisfaction, resulting in a yellow card for dissent. Subsequently, he was involved in a physical altercation with New York City FC assistant coach Mehdi Ballouchy, during which Messi placed his hand on Ballouchy's neck. Inter Miami staff intervened to separate the two parties.
Earlier in the match, Inter Miami faced adversity when defender Tomas Aviles received a red card in the 23rd minute for a tackle on Alonso Martínez. Despite being a man down, Miami managed to secure a point, with Messi assisting in both of their goals.

Inter Miami is set to face Sporting KC in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup first round on Tuesday, currently leading the tie 1-0.
