Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points with a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The win brings Liverpool's point tally to 60, ahead of second-placed Arsenal's 53, with both teams having 13 matches remaining in the season.
The match saw Liverpool take an early lead in the 15th minute when Luis Díaz capitalized on a defensive error by Wolves' Toti to find the net. Later in the first half, Díaz was fouled by Wolves' goalkeeper José Sá, resulting in a penalty that Mohamed Salah converted in the 37th minute, marking his 23rd league goal of the season.

Wolves responded in the second half, with Matheus Cunha delivering a remarkable left-footed shot from 25 yards out in the 67th minute, reducing the deficit. Despite Wolves' increased pressure and a tense final phase, Liverpool maintained their composure to secure the win.

In addition to the team's success, Trent Alexander-Arnold achieved a personal milestone by breaking Steven Gerrard's club record as the youngest player to reach 250 Premier League starts for Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold reached this milestone at 26 years and 132 days, surpassing Gerrard's previous record of 26 years and 200 days set in 2006.

This victory reinforces Liverpool's strong position in the title race as they approach the final stretch of the season.
