Manchester United has officially announced the acquisition of Danish international Patrick Dorgu from U.S. Lecce.

The 20-year-old defender has signed a contract extending until June 2030, with an option for an additional year. The transfer is subject to standard visa and registration procedures.

The deal is valued at an initial €30 million, with potential add-ons amounting to €5 million based on performance-related incentives.

Dorgu, who primarily operates as a left-back or wing-back, has made 57 appearances for Lecce, contributing five goals. His current season highlights include ranking second in ground duels won and fourth in take-on attempts among Serie A defenders. Notably, he scored with his first touch during his international debut for Denmark in September 2024.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Dorgu stated, "I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family. I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions."

Manchester United's technical director, Jason Wilcox, commented on the signing, "Patrick is a really exciting talent; his strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability and work-rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorim’s squad. Patrick has had a superb start to his career, and at the age of just 20, we know he will continue to develop under the guidance of our excellent coaching team."

This acquisition marks the second signing under manager Ruben Amorim, as the club aims to strengthen its squad for the ongoing season.
