Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. has confirmed that his stunning "Olimpico" goal—scoring directly from a corner kick—was intentional. Speaking on the Podpah podcast, Neymar revealed his thought process before executing the remarkable strike during Santos FC's 3-0 win over Internacional de Limeira in the Campeonato Paulista.
"I went to take the corner, and they provoked me. I asked them to sing louder, I struck the ball and got an assist. Then, the second time I went there, they did it again. So I thought to myself, 'Now I'm the one who's going to score the goal.' I hit a great shot and managed to score my first Olimpico goal," Neymar recounted.
During the match, Neymar had faced taunts from opposing fans while preparing for his corner kicks. In response, he gestured for them to continue before delivering a precise shot that curled into the net off the far post. After scoring, he turned to the crowd, cupped his ear, and shrugged—a clear response to the jeers.
