The Danish left-back, who joined the club on a five-year contract with an option for an additional year, will now wear the number 13 shirt, previously worn by legends such as Ji-sung Park and Gary Neville.
The transfer fee for Dorgu is reported to be €30 million, with potential add-ons taking the total to €35 million. At just 20 years old, Dorgu is known for his versatility, capable of playing as a left-back, wing-back, or winger. His career began at Husum Boldklub in Copenhagen, before he moved to Nordsjælland's youth academy. In 2022, he joined Lecce's under-19 team and extended his contract with the club until 2027. Dorgu made his Serie A debut in August 2023 and scored his first goal in February 2024.
On the international stage, Dorgu has represented Denmark at various youth levels and earned his first senior cap in September 2024, scoring a goal in his debut match against Switzerland.
His arrival at Old Trafford adds much-needed depth to Manchester United's left-back position, especially in light of recent injuries to Luke Shaw and the potential loan departure of Tyrell Malacia. Dorgu has expressed his excitement about joining the club and is eager to contribute to the team’s success under manager Ruben Amorim.
