Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez has been spotted in training with a fresh appearance, having shaved his head. The Spanish shot-stopper’s change in hairstyle comes during a difficult phase in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
Losing His Starting Spot
Sánchez, who joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023, has featured in 37 matches for the Blues this season. However, his role as the team's first-choice goalkeeper has been in doubt after a series of costly errors. A notable mistake against Manchester City, where he was beaten by Erling Haaland, led to head coach Enzo Maresca opting to replace him with Filip Jørgensen.
Maresca explained that the decision was made to allow Sánchez time to regain confidence and form. Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella acknowledged his teammate’s struggles, emphasizing the importance of staying prepared for opportunities in the future.
Chelsea’s Upcoming Fixtures
Chelsea will return to action against Aston Villa on Saturday, February 22, 2025, followed by a home clash with Southampton on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. These matches will be crucial as the team looks to maintain momentum in the Premier League.
