Roberto De Zerbi Bans Ex Man U Striker Greenwood From Taking Corner kicks

Olympique de Marseille's head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, has announced that forward Mason Greenwood will no longer be responsible for taking corner kicks, citing the player's primary focus on goal-scoring as a factor in this decision. De Zerbi explained, "Greenwood is not a corner kick specialist. He could be, but he's focused on the goal. When he has to take a corner kick, he goes a bit like... Yes, it annoys me."

In light of this change, De Zerbi has assigned corner-kick duties to midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. He noted, "Quentin Merlin has the foot to take them, but he doesn't start inside regularly. Luis Henrique does not put enough power into it. So Højbjerg is the one who has the best foot to shoot to this day."

Since joining Marseille in July 2024, Greenwood has made a significant impact on the team's offensive performance. As of February 2, 2025, he has participated in 20 Ligue 1 matches, contributing 13 goals. Additionally, he has appeared in two national cup games, adding one goal to his tally. This brings his total to 22 appearances and 14 goals across all competitions for the club.
