Tottenham Hotspur Eliminated from FA Cup After 2-1 Defeat to Aston Villa
Tottenham Hotspur suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round, marking their second cup exit in just four days. Despite a late goal from Mathys Tel, Ange Postecoglou’s side was unable to overturn the deficit, raising further concerns about their recent form.

Early Setback for Tottenham

Aston Villa took the lead within the first minute of play, capitalizing on a costly mistake by Tottenham's goalkeeper, Antonin Kinsky. Morgan Rogers made a driving run before finding Jacob Ramsey, whose shot seemed routine for Kinsky. However, the ball slipped through his hands and rolled into the net, giving Villa a dream start.

Villa Doubles Their Lead

Tottenham struggled to break down Villa’s defense, and in the 64th minute, they conceded again. Leon Bailey delivered a dangerous cross from the right, which Pedro Porro failed to clear effectively. The ball fell to Rogers, who calmly slotted it home from close range to extend Villa's advantage.

Tel’s Late Goal Not Enough for Spurs

Spurs pulled one back in stoppage time through Mathys Tel, who cleverly flicked in Dejan Kulusevski’s cross for his first goal since joining the club. However, it proved too little too late, as Villa held on to secure their place in the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in a decade.

With this defeat, Tottenham faces increased scrutiny, particularly on manager Ange Postecoglou, as they now shift focus back to the Premier League.
