VeryDarkMan Criticizes EFCC Over Alleged Selective Prosecution of Naira Abuse

Social media commentator Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has openly criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what he perceives as selective enforcement of laws against the abuse of the Naira.

On Tuesday night, VeryDarkMan shared images on his social media accounts showing himself spraying Naira notes at a nightclub in Jos, Plateau State. His caption read: “Okoya is my new surname so EFCC no go talk. Where there is no law, there is no crime….. @officialefcc hello, how are y’all? Anyways, mad fun at CHILLERS BY NEWYORKER IN JOS.”

His statement appears to be a reference to a recent controversy involving Raheem and Wahab Okoya, sons of business mogul Chief Razaq Okoya. A viral video had shown the brothers handling large sums of cash while dancing, with a police officer seen assisting them. The video, reportedly created to promote Raheem Okoya's song Credit Alert, led to the officer being placed under investigation. Following the backlash, Raheem Okoya apologized, stating that his actions were not meant to offend.

Many social media users have since pointed out what they consider an inconsistency in the EFCC’s response. While celebrities such as Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest have faced legal action for similar currency-related offenses, the EFCC has yet to comment on the Okoya case
