Why I Didn't Allow Nkunku Leave During January Window - Enzo Maresca

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that the club has been committed to retaining forward Christopher Nkunku since December. Despite limited Premier League appearances, Nkunku has been a significant contributor in cup competitions, leading to speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge. However, Maresca has consistently emphasized Nkunku's importance to the team and dismissed any notions of a January departure.

In a recent match against West Ham United, Nkunku made a notable impact by playing the final 30 minutes. Maresca expressed optimism about Nkunku's increasing involvement, stating, "For sure now he will have a bigger role. He played half an hour vs West Ham. Hopefully, he can get more minutes and help us."

Maresca has also clarified Nkunku's optimal position on the field, noting that while he has often been deployed as a central striker, his most effective role is as a number 10, operating behind the main forward.
